Building Better DEXes: An Arbitrary Mean-Rate Exchange Protocol

Automated Market Makers (AMMs) traditionally dictate liquidity through a predefined invariant curve (such as $x\cdot y=K^{2}$), which indirectly determines the exchange rates for users. This talk proposes reversing that standard order. By taking the desired exchange rate as the foundational building block, we can construct a new, flexible class of decentralised exchange (DEX) protocols. We will explore how this "Mean-of-Derivatives" approach solves the mathematical roadblocks that currently limit concentrated liquidity designs, opening up a much wider space for programmable liquidity.

Building Better DEXes: An Arbitrary Mean-Rate Exchange Protocol

Automated Market Makers (AMMs) traditionally dictate liquidity through a predefined invariant curve (such as $x\cdot y=K^{2}$), which indirectly determines the exchange rates for users. This talk proposes reversing that standard order. By taking the desired exchange rate as the foundational building block, we can construct a new, flexible class of decentralised exchange (DEX) protocols. We will explore how this "Mean-of-Derivatives" approach solves the mathematical roadblocks that currently limit concentrated liquidity designs, opening up a much wider space for programmable liquidity.
