Zerion: Simplifying DeFi with Multi-Chain Solutions for Better UX
When it comes to secure and reliable blockchain interoperability, Zerion is one of the leading non-custodial Web3 wallets. It allows for managing both NFT and DeFi assets across multiple chains, while also offering top-notch tracking capabilities and exchange rates.
Today we're interviewing two of the key figures behind Zerion, namely Evgeny Yurtaev and Grayson Ho. As the co-founder and CEO of Zerion, Evgeny Yurtaev pursues his vision to simplify DeFi and make it mainstream, integrating user-friendly features and multichain support. Grayson Ho is a Senior Software Engineer at Zerion, where he plays a key role in developing and enhancing the platform's mobile application. We can hardly manage to hide our excitement over welcoming Grayson to Sofia in October!
What is your long-term vision for Zerion, and how do you see it evolving over the next five to ten years in the rapidly changing landscape of decentralized finance?
Evgeny: Over the next five to ten years, Zerion aims to craft a seamless, vertically integrated experience for the on-chain landscape. By abstracting the complexities of blockchain networks, we plan to remove the concept of "chain" from the user experience entirely. This means that users will not have to worry about which chain they are transacting on, enabling a more intuitive interaction with smart contract-based applications.
How do you see mobile DeFi evolving, and what role will Zerion play in shaping that future?
Grayson: Mobile DeFi is set to evolve into a more inclusive, user-centric experience, with a focus on accessibility and security. As DeFi adoption grows, Zerion will prioritize seamless cross-chain interactions, allowing users to access multiple blockchains intuitively within a single app. We will also play a key role in this evolution by supporting gasless transactions, allowing users to transact like their regular banking apps. In addition, we continue to enhance our all-in-one mobile experience by supporting new protocols and dApps and investing in security innovations, such as improved transaction simulations and advanced hardware wallet support. We aim to make DeFi remain fast, intuitive, and available to everyone.
Zerion integrates with every major decentralized exchange and plans to support multiple blockchains. How do you approach technological innovation at Zerion, and what new technologies or trends in blockchain do you find most promising for the future?
Evgeny: At Zerion, our approach to innovation is rooted in continuous learning and adaptation. We closely monitor developments in the blockchain space, including reviewing improvement proposals such as EIPs, SIMDs, and CAIPs. Additionally, we host internal "tech Web3 talks" to discuss and dissect the latest trends, ensuring that Zerion remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
As DeFi continues to grow, so does the scrutiny from regulators. How does Zerion navigate the regulatory landscape, and what measures are you taking to ensure compliance while maintaining the core principles of decentralization?
Evgeny: As DeFi grows, regulatory complexity starts to increase. Zerion navigates this landscape by prioritizing the principle of self-custody, akin to holding cash, which aligns with the views of many regulators. However, we are aware that the regulatory environment is dynamic. To remain compliant while honoring the ethos of decentralization, we keep up with the latest legal developments and adapt our operations accordingly.
Community engagement seems to be a crucial part of Zerion’s strategy. How do you foster a strong community?
Evgeny: Community engagement is central to Zerion's strategy. We listen actively to our users, ensuring our communications are relatable and human. Additionally, our ambassador program extends our team's reach, empowering community members to contribute directly to Zerion's growth and evolution.
Mobile experiences are crucial for Web3 adoption. How do you approach designing a seamless DeFi experience for mobile users at Zerion?
Grayson: At Zerion, we’re building the ultimate DeFi super app, offering an all-in-one solution for mobile users. Our app provides seamless, native performance across iPads, iPhones, and Android devices, with multi-language support to make DeFi accessible globally. Key mobile-first features include an advanced portfolio tracker, an integrated dApp browser for effortless exploration, and an in-app wallet for secure trading and asset management. We prioritize security features including hardware wallet support and transaction simulations security checks, ensuring users enjoy both convenience and safety. Zerion empowers users with everything they need to manage and grow their assets—all in one app.
What innovations in mobile UI/UX do you believe will define the future of DeFi platforms like Zerion?
Grayson: Innovations in mobile UI/UX will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of DeFi platforms like Zerion. We’re focusing on an offline-first experience with performant data caching, enabling users to see balances and past wallet activities regardless of location or network conditions. Low latency and smooth interactions are also essential, and we’ve invested in state-of-the-art communication protocols like WalletConnect Link mode for seamless mobile dApp interactions. Additionally, personalization and adaptive design will drive future trends, offering tailored experiences across devices. Features like gesture-based navigation, biometric authentication, and passkeys will further enhance user security and convenience, making DeFi more intuitive and accessible on mobile.
